In South India, at least, there are some protests and action against honour killings particularly when the victim is a Dalit. Multiple cases of Dalit men being killed by their wife or partner’s family have been reported from South India. In the present case there have been widespread protests. The man’s family petitioned to the Court alleging that the police was giving his death a suicide twist under pressure. On family’s petition the High Court has ordered exhuming of his body for fresh autopsy.
